Singing in the RAIN

Singing in the RAIN

So to put a damper on your summer (no pun intended), if you are in Toronto then, the heavens have decided to piss down on us today. So there really isn’t anything else to talk about but summer rain fashion.

On a rainy day … whatever the season… we look in our closets and always tend to pull out the darkest shades available… black, grey, navy blue. This is all perfect for me as I live in black and grey. Above are some outfit ideas for you to stay fashionable in today’s sucky weather.

Look 1:

Stripes seem to be the go to print during the rain… no idea why… but I dig it.
For this look I paired a striped Dr Denim ‘Blair’ long sleeve top, with Bershka’s boyfriend jeans… on the foot Saint Laurent studded Rangers boot. Don’t be afraid to add pops of color in your accessories, for this I added a Aldo necklace…. oh and don’t forget your brolly, this one is from Pasotti.

Look 2:

Black … it goes with everything and suits pretty much anyone. Just because it’s raining doesn’t mean you still can’t rock the short shorts look, these are from Sheinside. If it’s a little chilly out pair those short shorts with a little extra coverage, add a big comfy sweater like this one from Enzyme. Add a little boot to keep those feet dry in the puddles… and these boots are actually from Payless! And of course compliment your look with some accessories, such as this sun, moon and star necklace from Charming Charlie…. and this rock star umbrella from… obviously… Alexander McQueen.

Just because it’s raining it doesn’t mean you have to stay inside, or wear a plastic poncho. You can look fashionable in the rain… rock those brollys!

A Fashion Farewell

A Fashion Farewell

After 27 years of business, Canadian designer Lida Baday has decided to close up shop.

Her creations sold in such places as: The Bay, Holt Renfrew, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstroms. They have also worn by celebrities such as powerhouse Oprah Winfrey.

Baday’s Toronto studio will be holding a sample sale June 20th until June 21st at 70 Claremont St. Everything is marked down to $80 and less… this is a massive markdown, from normal sale prices being $1,500-$1,800!

However with this sad news, we wish all the best to the Baday family.

Dinner in the SUN

Dinner in the SUN

It’s hot out today… and getting distracted by Pinterest (as usual), is making me think about the perfect summer dinner.

Pinterest is always full of deliciously looking images, however although my replica’s never look the same they do end up pretty tasty.

Today an image that caught my eye was the summer peach and balsamic pizza (pictured above).

YUMMY!!!!

Below is the recipe, maybe you could make it too! It would be like one big internet dinner.

WHAT YOU NEED:
1 batch pizza dough
1 cup balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons olive oil
8 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced or grated
2 ounces soft goat cheese, crumbled
4 peaches, pitted and thinly sliced
1/2 cup coarsely chopped basil

COOK:
To prepare the balsamic reduction, pour balsamic vinegar into a small saucepan, bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer until the vinegar has reduced to 1/4 cup, about 20 minutes. Set aside and let cool.

Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F or as high as your oven will go. If you have a pizza stone, preheat the stone in the oven for at least 30 minutes to allow it to get thoroughly hot.

Divide dough into tennis-ball sized pieces. Take one piece of dough and punch it down on a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough out into a circle approximately 1/4-inch thin. Place the pizza on a pizza peel or pan that has been generously coated with corn meal. Lightly brush with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Top with mozzarella, goat cheese, and peach slices. Drizzle the pizza with balsamic reduction. Repeat for remaining pizzas.

Place the pizza in the oven-directly on the pizza stone, if using one, or on the oven rack. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until pizza crust is golden and cheese is melted. Remove from oven and top with basil and drizzle with balsamic reduction. Cut into slices and serve.

Doesn’t seem all that difficult …

Anyway enjoy your dinner in the sun… I’ll be enjoying mine!

A Royal FLOP

A Royal FLOP

Probably none of you have ever heard of, or will ever watch ‘I wanna marry Harry’…. and that’s really for the best.

‘I wanna marry Harry’ highlights the stupidity and ignorance of Americans (not hating on American’s though).

The reality show in which, 12 American girls travel to the UK with the thought to win Prince Harry’s hand. Little do they know this is a massive hoax and their ‘Prince’ is actually Matthew Hicks an environmental consultant.

Now this is where I am completely lost and maybe it is because I am British. Haven’t we seen enough images of Prince Harry to know that it’s probably not him?? Do we really think the monarchy would allow Prince Harry to be followed around by a reality show and 12 ditsy American girls??

Well I recommend you not wasting your time watching it. But if this is totally for you, you can thank Ryan Seacrest productions, and FOX…. enjoy!!
